SEATTLE, November 21, 2024–Today, Hightower announced its commitment to The Climate Pledge as part of the company’s ongoing dedication to material health and transparency. Hightower cares not only for people but also for the places they live and work, creating healthier spaces for all.
Co-founded by Amazon and Global Optimism in 2019, The Climate Pledge is a commitment by companies to reach net-zero carbon emissions by 2040—a decade ahead of the Paris Agreement’s goal of 2050.
Signatories to The Climate Pledge agree to:
The Climate Pledge is a natural step forward in Hightower’s sustainability journey. In 2023, Hightower achieved B Corp Certification for its in-house brand, Hightower Studio. B Corps are for-profit companies that are leading a global movement for an inclusive, equitable, and regenerative economy. The B Corp designation means Hightower is third-party verified and meets high standards of social and environmental performance, transparency, and accountability.
“Signing The Climate Pledge aligns perfectly with Hightower’s core values and mission to create a more sustainable and healthier world,” said Natalie Hartkopf, Hightower CEO/co-owner. “It provides a framework for us to continually improve our practices and strive for excellence. We’re ever-mindful of our footprint and how it affects future generations.”
Hightower has already prioritized material health and transparency over the years and assesses most of its products to the 100 parts per million level to verify that no chemicals on the Living Building Challenge Red List are in its products. It seeks to optimize and remove Red List Chemicals from its supply chain when present, including formaldehyde in paper backing and PVC edge banding.
Added Jenna Geigerman, Hightower president/COO, “Our commitment to environmental responsibility means that clients’ investment in our products and services helps us drive meaningful impact for people and the planet. From material transparency to inclusivity-focused products to investments in our team, Hightower will continue to push forward to create meaningful change.”
