Ghent Announces Company’s 2026 Color of the Year

A new hue and coordinating palette spark a bold return to optimism in shared spaces.

Lebanon, Ohio — December 2025 — Ghent, a leading innovator in visual communication solutions, has announced Marigold as its 2026 Color of the Year: a radiant, confident hue selected to reawaken creativity and positivity in learning, corporate, and healthcare environments. At a time when many brands continue to retreat into safe, neutral palettes, Ghent is leaning in the opposite direction, championing a color that refuses to fade into the background.

“Design should do more than exist; it should energize,” said Susan Claus, Ghent’s Director of Marketing. “Marigold reminds us that color has the power to inspire new ideas, spark connection, and bring joy back into everyday spaces. It’s not here to blend in. It’s here to stand out.”

Marigold is a cheerful yellow infused with warm, orange undertones that add depth and vibrancy to interiors. Whether used as a bold focal point or layered with complementary tones, Marigold delivers a sense of optimism and momentum, serving as an antidote to the monotony of pale spaces.

Ghent’s 2026 palette has been intentionally curated to amplify Marigold’s potential, providing designers with a versatile toolkit that supports contemporary needs for wellbeing, collaboration, and creativity.

The 2026 Ghent Color Palette

Marigold: The hero hue for 2026, Marigold injects warmth and excitement wherever it appears, from collaborative hubs to active learning environments. It invites engagement and encourages fresh thinking.

Denim: A calming counterpoint to Marigold’s energy, Denim introduces clarity and balance without diminishing impact. It’s ideal for modern workspaces and education zones that require both personality and focus.

Cactus: Returning for a second year, Ghent’s 2025 Color of the Year continues its relevance. Cactus anchors the palette with biophilic calm, delivering a sense of grounding that allows brighter tones to thrive.

Terra: A contemporary earth tone that bridges Marigold’s brightness and Cactus’s natural freshness. Terra adds depth, approachability, and a sense of design sophistication.

Beige: While Ghent is pushing beyond beige, the color earns its place here. Beige provides the quiet foundation that allows Marigold to shine, supporting large-scale surfaces and architectural elements without competing for attention.

Design expectations in 2026 are shifting. Environments must do more than function; they must encourage curiosity, dialogue, and emotional wellbeing. Research continues to affirm what designers instinctively know: inspired spaces lead to inspired outcomes.

Ghent’s palette reflects this transformation and is grounded in four driving principles:
1. Optimistic colors will boost both your mood and your creativity.
2. Warm tones that feel familiar will also allow forward thinking ideas.
3. Biophilic influence with grounded greens and earthy accents creates a safe, comforting feel.
4. Flexible contrast to brighten mobile solutions made for collaboration.
