(Oslo, Norway, April 22, 2026) Flokk, a leading global manufacturer of workspace seating, has acquired Spec Furniture of Toronto, Canada. This strengthens Flokk’s position in Canada and establishes a solid foothold in the growing healthcare market in North America.
“We are very pleased to welcome Spec to the Flokk group. Their strong position in highquality, configure-to-order products for the contract market, particularly within healthcare, complements our existing portfolio exceptionally well,” says Henning Karlsrud, Group CEO of Flokk.
Founded in 1991, Spec Furniture is headquartered in Toronto, Canada, where it operates its manufacturing facility. The company serves four key contract furniture segments in the United States and Canada: healthcare, education, corporate, and behavioural health. It has annual revenues of more than CAD 60 million and a staff of approximately 180. Prior to the acquisition Spec was a subsidiary of U.S.-based furniture manufacturer Sauder Manufacturing Co.
Spec will continue to operate as an independent brand within the Flokk portfolio, retaining its existing management team, production facility, sales and distribution organization. “Spec brings a well-run business, a dedicated team, and a strong portfolio of products serving attractive market segments. We believe this is an excellent strategic fit and look forward to becoming part of the Flokk group” says Chris Benjamin, CEO of Spec Furniture.

Total solution provider
Flokk markets high-quality office furniture through several leading brands in Europe and North America. While its heritage comes from Scandinavia, mainly within task chairs, today Flokk is an international company serving blue-chip clients globally as a total seating solution provider.
“This is Flokk’s tenth acquisition in almost as many years, demonstrating how we are actively shaping and consolidating a fragmented industry by providing a strong platform for innovative brands to grow”, says Mr. Karlsrud. “The acquisition also underscores our strategic focus on North America, a market that has seen robust growth in recent years and provides valuable geographic diversification.”
Through a combination of organic growth and acquisitions, Flokk has reached annual sales of over NOK 5 billion (USD 550 million). Following the acquisition of Spec Furniture, close to half of the company’s revenues will be generated in North America.
“Flokk’s strong foothold on both sides of the Atlantic makes us one of the few companies with a transatlantic presence within the workspace seating industry, strengthening our position as a global player,” says Mr. Karlsrud.
