In honor of DESIGNER’S DAYS in Paris, Knoll celebrates 85 years of design with a series of special edition Saarinen Tables
In honor of Designer’s Days – Knoll celebrates 85 years of design at the historic Knoll showroom in Paris introducing a special series of Saarinen Tables in exclusive natural stones. A tribute to the iconic Pedestal collection created by Eero Saarinen and produced by Knoll without interruption since 1957.
Saarinen’s furniture for Knoll includes the famous and revolutionary collection of pedestal-based tables and chairs from 1957, and is considered one of the most iconic examples of post-war design. In his approach to architecture and furniture design, Eero Saarinen combines the essential with striking solutions.
For over 60 years, starting with the Pedestal Collection by Eero Saarinen, Knoll has proposed a range of the finest marbles in a wide range of colors and veneer. To pay homage to the brand anniversary, Knoll introduces the new stone Cristallo Dark Blue.
The window display of Knoll’s Boulevard Saint-Germain showroom features the special edition Saarinen Dining Table with the new exclusive Cristallo Dark Blue top: a magnificent natural quartz whose white background is almost entirely covered with threadlike veins ranging from light blue to deep blue. The chromatic combination and translucent characteristic of quartz offers a kaleidoscopic effect of light and colors of rare beauty.
Alongside the Saarinen Tables, some of the modern classics designed by architects like Florence Knoll, Mies van der Rohe, Eero Saarinen, Harry Bertoia and Marcel Bruer are on view together with Knoll latest new introductions, such as Lissoni’s Outdoor Collection that reflects Piero Lissoni’s elegant style and is inspired to Knoll’s historic 1966 Collection by Richard Schultz.
Lissoni’s Outdoor Collection is distinguished by its essential lines and comes with an aluminium frame, available in white, onyx and dark red. The micro-perforated pattern on the back of the sofa and armchair’s backrest catches the eye and defines its contemporary aesthetic, while the large cushions and upholstery of the seats ensure an absolute level of comfort and informal relaxation. The covers of the seat and back cushions are fully removable and suitable for extended outdoor use. To accompany the new outdoor offerings, Knoll is introducing a selection of outdoor fabrics that allow numerous customization options, ensuring maximum performance and original color combinations.
