MORBERN NEARS/APPROACHES ISO 14001 CERTIFICATION
By mid-summer 2022, Morbern will achieve its second International Standards Organization certification, specifically the ISO 14001:2015. This certification outlines the requirements for an environmental management system that contributes to the company’s commitment to sustainability.
“It is our goal to be a diligent steward of our land, our air, our waterways and our entire ecological system,” said Executive Vice President of Sales and Marketing John Weaver.
Under the direction of Chris McFarlane, Morbern’s Director of Manufacturing, the Cornwall facility has been developing an Environment Management System addressing the nature, scale and environmental impacts of the company’s activities, products, and services.
All Morbern employees are actively committed to protecting the natural environment by preventing and eliminating environmental pollution through:
- Following environmental procedures to decrease environmental impact, and prevent degradation of the environment and wildlife
- Improving waste management
- Exploring new materials and processes with reduced environmental footprint
- Decreasing reliance on non-renewable energy
- Providing continual education to prevent environmental pollution and preserve natural resources
As a standard of business, Morbern has continually worked to improve its organization. In August of 2015, Morbern received its ISO 9001:2008 certification which sets out the criteria for a quality management system. And the company was named one of Canada’s Best Managed Companies for 2020 and 2021, an honor that recognizes companies for innovative, world-class business practices.
The ISO, founded in 1947 and based in Switzerland, is a network of national standards bodies from 167 countries. It is the world’s largest developer of international standards with a goal to create guidelines for businesses that support innovation and provide solutions to global challenges.
