BIFMA LEVEL is a 3rd party certification program to the ANSI/BIFMA e3 Furniture Sustainability Standard. This all new BIFMA CEU has been developed to explain the program and improvements of the recently published ANSI/BIMFA standard behind LEVEL certified products. It will define what it measures, how it works, and how to easily find LEVEL certified products to inform purchasing decisions for designers and buyers. In this course you will:
Learn the role of BIFMA in developing, maintaining, and revising the ANSI/BIFMA e3 Furniture Sustainability Standard.
Explore the tiered system of sustainability achievement for furniture products, apply the scope of requirements, and compare enhancements of LEVEL 2024 to previous versions.
Analyze what is measured in the standard and verify product claims using the LEVEL scorecard.
Be able to use the LEVEL Registry to apply your expertise by selecting furniture with a range of sustainability attributes to meet project and client goals.

Steve Kooy, Health and Sustainability Director, BIFMA
Kooy leads BIFMA’s Health and Sustainability programs including standard setting, advocacy, and outreach. Kooy has more than 15 years of experience as a sustainability professional in the furniture industry. Prior to joining BIFMA, Kooy worked in sales and business development for Intertek — a third-party auditor, certifier, and test lab. In this role, he worked with global furniture clients to properly test and certify products to electrical, mechanical, and environmental standards.
