OttLite Introduces Exclusive Sanitizing Desk Lamp with UVC and HEPA Air Purification to Kill Bacteria and Viruses in Your Workspace
OttLite Technologies, Inc., experts in healthy lighting, is introducing the OttLite SanitizingPro LED Desk Lamp with UVC Air Purifier, a patent-pending design combining the eyestrain-reducing power of their exclusive ClearSun® LEDs with three sanitizing techniques to create a healthier workspace killing both bacteria and viruses:
- patented SpectraClean™ LED technology to kill bacteria on phones, keyboards and desks,
- UVC LEDs to kill bacteria and viruses, and
- a HEPA filter to trap airborne particles and allergens as small as .3 microns.
“This simple, yet powerful solution provides the peace of mind for people to feel comfortable as they return to work,” said John Sheppard, CEO of OttLite. “Going way beyond what a regular desk lamp can offer, the SanitizingPro brings together lighting that makes seeing easier with sanitizing technology that actually improves air quality and kills bacteria and viruses – all on your desktop.”
The lamp is designed with a combination of OttLite ClearSun® LEDs and patented SpectraClean™ sanitizing LEDs. Safe for skin and eyes, these two technologies combine to provide a clean, natural daylight illumination while also breaking down harmful microorganisms like bacteria, fungus and mold. Research* has revealed that more than two thirds of office workers are at risk of sickness due to dirty desks. The average desk contains 400 times more germs than a toilet seat.
For killing viruses and trapping airborne particles, the base of the SanitizingPro is equipped with a personal HEPA air purifier plus enclosed UVC light. The 3-speed fan pulls air in from the back of the lamp. The air first passes through the HEPA filter and then through the UVC LEDs – shown in independent lab testing to kill viruses‡.
The pleated, replaceable HEPA filter traps 97.3% of airborne particles as small as .3 microns. For reference, humans can inhale particles 10 microns and under. A respiratory droplet, often a carrier of germs, is between 5 and 10 microns; a dust particle is approximately 2.5 microns; and a bacterium is between 1 to 3 microns***.
Additionally, the SanitizingPro features a 5-volt, 2.1-amp USB charging port to quickly charge devices.

About OttLite Technologies Inc.
OttLite was founded in 1989 by Dr. John Nash Ott to bring the power of natural daylight indoors through his one-of-a-kind natural daylight bulb. A pioneer in natural light research, Dr. Ott discovered through 40 years of scientific research the remarkable effects specific wavelengths of light have on all living things. Known as the father of full-spectrum lighting, his research concluded that a light with the entire visible spectrum of light wavelengths was best for vision and wellbeing. Today, OttLite Technologies manufactures and distributes a wide range of high quality, innovative, health-focused lighting for offices, homes and travel.
About SpectraClean™
Through a partnership with Hubbell Lighting, a world leader in lighting innovation, OttLite exclusively offers SpectraClean™ visible light disinfection technology in desk, table, floor and task lamps in North America and Central America. The US patents that apply are US Patent 9,039,966 and US Patent 8,398,264. Stemming from groundbreaking laboratory research in the early 2000s from the University of Strathclyde located in Glasgow, Scotland, SpectraClean™ visible light disinfection is a widely accepted science and the subject of more than 40 peer-reviewed studies (both field and lab) and conference presentations.
