Sustainability has been a strategic direction of the office furniture manufacturer Narbutas International since 2021. To receive a trusted sustainability assessment, the company have begun collaborating with EcoVadis, the world’s leading independent third-party sustainability rating platform. As a result of the 6-month assessment, NARBUTAS was placed in the top 35% of companies with the best sustainability performance and awarded a bronze medal.
Sustainability is an integral part of NARBUTAS’ identity, which is why the EcoVadis medal is one of our most important achievements this year. The company is committed to developing quality products while ensuring that its activity has the lowest possible environmental impact and meet the highest standards of social responsibility.
“We have noticed that sustainability is becoming more and more relevant to all our stakeholders because of values as well as increasingly strict legal regulation in this area. This includes our trade partners, architects and designers participating in public tenders and projects, end users, current and future employees,” said Iveta Kotryna Lavrinovičienė, Head of Sales Promotion and Sustainability at Narbutas International, UAB. “By working with EcoVadis, we aim to achieve a trusted, internationally recognised sustainability rating. We are delighted that EcoVadis has given us the opportunity to combine our important goals of consistently promoting sustainability and creating added value for our customers.”
The EcoVadis rating system assesses companies in four areas: environment, labour & human rights, ethics and sustainable procurement. EcoVadis rated Narbutas International best in the areas of labour & human rights and environment. In the latter category, for example, we scored 80 out of 100. This shows that the company’s policies and actions on efficient energy use, waste reduction and recycling are well established and effective.
“The medal we have been awarded reflects the quality of the company’s sustainability management and demonstrates our commitment to transparency throughout the value chain,” said I. K. Lavrinovičienė. “The EcoVadis assessment also allows us to clearly see our strengths as well as areas for improvement.”
The EcoVadis rating system consists of six levels. 1% of all the assessed companies receive a platinum medal. A gold medal is awarded to 5% of the companies, a silver medal to 15% and a bronze medal to 35%. Below the medals, there are two special badges – COMMITTED and FAST MOVER. According to the EcoVadis methodology, the first means a positive rating, while the second indicates an improvement in sustainability performance. We are very pleased that NARBUTAS, participating in the ratings for the first time, was immediately placed in the medallist category.
Since its inception, EcoVadis has screened over 2 million companies across 220 industries, comprehensively rated more than 130,000 companies and covered over 180 countries.
