NEW YORK, NY – Hyphyn™, the first-of-its-kind biodegradable vinyl engineered for high-traffic environments, will make its debut at the Healthcare Design Conference + Expo, taking place October 17–20, 2026, in New Orleans. Attendees can experience the material firsthand at booth #2924 at the Ernest N. Morial Convention Center to learn about its latest incineration safety test results and a new recycled-material backing designed to be entirely sustainable. Distribution partners Pallas, Mayer, CF Stinson, and Arc-Com will each showcase new designs featuring the material.
Designed for the rigorous demands of healthcare environments, Hyphyn delivers durable stain resistance, easy cleaning with soap and water, and compatibility with bleach and most commercial disinfectants. It offers the performance, cleanability, and cost parity of traditional vinyl while meeting the growing demand for sustainable materials across the design community.
Engineered with a patented enzyme system and proprietary resin formulation, Hyphyn is designed to biodegrade by more than 90 percent within two years in landfill conditions, without leaving behind microplastics or harmful toxins. Building on this innovation, the material now features an enhanced polyester backing made entirely from recycled post-consumer plastic bottles. The enzyme system is embedded in both the PVC surface and the backing, ensuring the entire material is biodegradable and further reducing its environmental impact.
Hyphyn also shares recently published test results confirming its safety for incineration. Dioxin content analysis recorded an overall I-TEQ toxicity level of less than 0.001 ng/g, validating a lower-impact end-of-life option.
“We’re thrilled to have Hyphyn exhibit at Healthcare Design Conference + Expo this year alongside our esteemed partners,” said Iwan Nassimi, Executive Vice President of Nassimi. “It’s an opportunity to share how Hyphyn upholds our rigorous sustainability standards while meeting the performance and cleanability demands of healthcare environments.”
