Quebec, Canada – July 21, 2025 – It started with a visit to High Point Market. While exploring the showroom, the owner of Mobican—a Canadian furniture manufacturer known for its clean lines and quality craftsmanship—noticed the Combi Pendant. Captivated by its balanced form and understated elegance, he ordered one for personal use. The fixture made a lasting impression. When the opportunity came to enhance Mobican’s own showroom, he returned to the Combi—this time envisioning it as a central element within the company’s commercial space.

Working in partnership with a team member from Artifex International Meubles, the client selected both 24″ and 36″ Combi Pendants for the installation. Based in Quebec, Artifex brings decades of industry knowledge to each collaboration. With no interior designer involved, the process became a close exchange between Mobican and Artifex. The smaller pendant was initially proposed, but after reviewing the space and ceiling height, the team recommended incorporating larger pendants to better fit the scale of the showroom.

To support the fixtures, the Mobican team built a custom wooden ceiling—approximately 15 feet by 15 feet—beneath the existing metal ceiling, which couldn’t accommodate the pendant weight. The first pendant took the longest to install, but once it was in place, the rest of the process followed naturally.

The primary lighting installation now hangs in the center of the stairwell—a striking composition of suspended pendants that greet visitors as they ascend. Floating at eye level, the fixtures seem to hover mid-air, creating a sculptural effect that adds rhythm and depth to the architectural space. The black finish of the pendants complements the glass and steel railing, while natural light from adjacent windows casts dynamic shadows across the walls throughout the day.

The design language carries over into the reception area, where smaller white Combi Pendants are installed above the curved front desk. The placement is clean and deliberate—each pendant evenly spaced and hanging at a height that feels welcoming, not overwhelming. Against the pale textured wall and soft green accent, the fixtures appear as simple punctuation marks—refined and quietly present.

The Artifex team relied on product samples and direct collaboration to guide the selection and placement—an approach that emphasized simplicity and function, aligning well with Mobican’s design philosophy.
