Division Twelve has an award-winning collection
Bent right here in North America, Division Twelve is an award-winning collection of colorful bent metal tables, chairs and stools. They make things that make people happy by creating furniture that is built to last. Their products use durable materials, modernist design, and oh-so-careful craftsmanship to create pieces that exceed expectation every time. This diverse collection can be integrated into any environment, including indoor and outdoor hospitality, education, office and even residential. With product names like Brat, Funk and Hectic, this is a line that is bursting with personality.
Division Twelve launched in 2020, and the collection is growing fast. The initial collection features the designs of Geof Lilge, Scot Laughton and Samuel Petterson, and now the renowned design trio EOOS can be added to that list. EOOS are the designers behind the latest addition to the Division Twelve product family: Catty, an ultra-light, ultra-stackable seating option that was inspired by the classic lion tamer chair. With its barely-there frame, it’s the spectacularly discreet seat you never knew you wanted, until now. Catty consists of only two curving steel tubes, which form a backrest, and a smooth, thin plane of steel or wood veneer to form the seat. Catty launched in May 2021, and is available in indoor and outdoor options. Catty comes in café, bar stool or counter stool height, and has the option of arm or armless. For convenience and increased flexibility of use, Catty can be stacked six to eight high. With all these customization offerings, Catty will have you saying, “Here, kitty kitty.”
Division Twelve also just announced the launch of its outdoor seating collection. This means that all of its seating items (except for the upholstered Daytrip stool) can be available in an outdoor option. This expansion is made possible by the addition of a new seat material –a 100% fully recyclable HDPE plastic. The 100% recyclable HDPE is both lightweight and extra durable, making it ideal for outdoor use – rain, sleet, snow, even aggressive animals don’t stand a chance. 100% recyclable HDPE is resistant to mold and mildew, and stands strong against rigorous cleaning and sanitization processes. This expansion provides designers with new opportunities to customize their orders and explore new spaces with the colorful furniture line. Patio days aren’t too far away, so get ready to be comfortable outdoors, in style.
Division Twelve offers a carefully curated powder coat palette with classic and contemporary colors that work together to create stunning combinations. All Division Twelve products are versatile and timeless, with the curated palette allowing the customer to take control, customize and make the pieces their own. In addition to their 20 vibrant color offerings, the company also offers the Pantone® Color of the Year, every year, and offers the full RAL color palette if you still can’t find the color you are looking for. By keeping up with the latest color trends, Division Twelve is there for you when inspiration strikes. If the tonal look is your vibe, Division Twelve’s stained oak finish comes in the same color offerings as the powder coat palette. This means you can match up the oak finish color to the frame, or really mix it up.
On top of all that goodness, Division Twelve also wants you to know that they are a company that cares about sustainability. That means using materials that the Earth approves of and that last a lifetime. Division Twelve’s steel, HDPE and textiles are fully recyclable. The seat foam contains bio-based ingredients, and the powder coating process limits VOC emissions in the metal frames. All solid wood is FSC certified (FSC® C117042), and all seating is BIFMA LEVEL 2® certified. To put it simply, Division Twelve likes to pick and choose the best materials to create sustainable furniture that is worthy of a humble-brag or two.
After making formal introductions to the contract furniture industry, Division Twelve was ready to make the relationship a little more… personable. In April 2021, the company celebrated the opening of its very fun, very Instagrammable showroom in Chicago. Located on the third floor of Chicago’s famous Merchandise Mart, the new Division Twelve showroom was designed by best-in-class firm Figure3 and mirrors the company’s goals to spark joy and creativity. To capture these sentiments, the design incorporates custom graphics that are present in Division Twelve’s expansive 20+ color offerings. The unexpected use of dimension, space, and scale softly suggests the limitless possibilities available with the furniture collection. Division Twelve likes to treat their furniture like art, and that was made possible by this joyful, creative space.
Not in Chicago anytime soon? No problem. Elements of Figure3’s design have also been incorporated into Division Twelve’s New York and Toronto showrooms. In New York, Division Twelve occupies the North East corner of the Keilhauer showroom, located at 200 Lexington Avenue in suite #1100. In Toronto, the products are available for viewing at the Keilhauer Headquarters at 1450 Birchmount Road via rotating Division Twelve vignettes, intended for work and show, which are interspersed throughout the office
