Furniture for challenging environments undoubtedly needs to be strong, but strength and beauty don’t always go together. As creators of furniture for challenging environments, we are constantly striving to find the perfect balance between strength and beauty, helping to create spaces which are as stylish as they are safe. And that’s the ethos which informs the Rock range. By seamlessly blending the old with the new – traditional solid wood joinery and modern lamination techniques – we have been able to create a range that is equally elegant and robust.

Rock has been designed to fit any setting where durability and style play an important role. Featuring a versatile chair, round and square coffee table options, as well as seven dining tables in varying shapes and sizes to ensure there is something for everyone.

• Key to the range’s strength are the interconnections which join each leg together, creating a rigidly braced solid birch frame which maximizes durability and minimizes damage.
• As well as creating a smooth tactile finish, edges on all tables are lightly chamfered and profiled to improve durability and protect the top surface from damage in the event of overturning.
• The chair has a comfortably contoured plywood seat with durable high-pressure laminate finish that is easy to keep clean.

At Pineapple, we create mindfully designed furniture that is exactly fit for purpose in transforming challenging environments. By taking time to listen, and understanding what really matters, we make sure even the smallest of details are designed for peace of mind. We listened carefully to our customers and noted that there was still an important place for wooden tables and chairs in our market and we were quickly able to establish that the styling expected for wooden items has moved forward exponentially.

Only by truly understanding these needs were we able to see that wooden furniture is only viable if it can withstand harsh treatment without introducing unnecessary risks to challenging settings. Another key element of the brief for our in-house team of designers was to create a range that was aesthetically aspirational; one that people could even envisage in their homes. We then set about matching these requirements to state-of-the-art techniques and testing to ensure this range matched and exceeded expectations, including an industry strength and stability test with a pass mark is 200,000 cycles which the Rock range exceeded by a further 300,000, giving a total of half a million test cycles.

The result was being able to deliver Rock; our tactile, Scandi-inspired range that brings a sense of nature indoors to help bring a sense of calm to challenging environments, using organic curves and natural materials. For over 40 years, our products have been manufactured to the highest standards to withstand the harshest treatment with all their characteristics resulting in safer and more stylish environments.
