COE Distributing Receives Fourth-Consecutive Top Workplaces Award with Leadership Accolade
COE Distributing has been honored among 2023 Top Workplaces by the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, claiming this coveted distinction for the fourth straight year.
COE achieved the highest ranking for employee confidence in leadership in the small business category this year and ranked 13 of 61 overall in small companies.
“We’re always thrilled to receive the Top Workplaces Award but earning top marks for confidence in leadership in 2023 is especially meaningful,” said CEO J.D. Ewing. “COE is dedicated to creating a culture of engagement, empowerment and support and our leadership team is so proud to receive this vote of confidence from our team members.”
The Top Workplaces Award highlighted 100 companies in southwestern Pennsylvania of various sizes and industries, based on responses to a third-party employee survey organized by Energage LLC. The anonymous surveys assess the prevalence of 15 culture drivers that positively influence a company’s ability to prosper. Based on numerical information rather than subjective criteria, the survey results provide a reliable picture of employee satisfaction including items such as pay, benefits, training and company values.
“COE truly lives our Core Values of Customer Service, Respect, Teamwork, Quality, Safety, Innovation and Transparency,” Ewing said. “Showing our team we value their efforts and input is so important, and we’re so appreciative of their support and the open, honest communication we share.”
COE Distributing’s growth and success are driven by a strong employee engagement program, offering career development opportunities, employee recognition, profit sharing, financial workshops, volunteer paid time off and virtual book clubs to more than 100 employees.
Additionally, COE is the proud official employee engagement partner of the Pittsburgh Penguins. Since 2019, the two organizations have rallied around shared Core Values and a culture of winning to create unique learning and development programs for their employees. COE rolled out its popular employee book club with the franchise’s employees and the Pens shared their warrior helmet locker room ritual with COE. COE employees who embody the company Values are now rewarded with a game-worn Penguins helmet trophy, hockey tickets and the chance to pass the helmet to the honoree of their choosing. The employee engagement partnership celebrates the passion and work ethic COE and the Penguins have in common and promotes both organizations’ desire to be the best in their respective industries.
