Allermuir Takes a Look at Trends in Hospitality

Allermuir designs unique pieces for the hospitality market which help create stories for our clients’ projects and brands to fulfil their vision. This year, Allermuir has once again featured in some amazing projects, from the Mondrian Hotel in London, to the Qantas executive lounge at LAX airport, to Hotel ICON in Hong Kong, to Cabana Bay Beach Resort in Florida.

Although trends in design and color vary from country to country, we’ve seen some consistent themes. The natural world has been a strong influence, with a demand for products made from organic elements. Wood and metal have been fused with wool, leather, fur and shimmery mineral coatings to achieve elegant finishes.

Color palettes have swung from muted Scandinavian styles to bolder colour statements and more opulent themes. We’ve enjoyed seeing our products used in an autumnal color palette, with warm greys and soft browns being the backdrop to muted mustards, oranges and reds. As we’re approaching the last months of the year, there’s been a shift towards three-dimensional colours such as dark inky blues with hints of black, combined with copper accents.

Although industrial and nostalgic themes are still very popular, we’re seeing an emergence of products with crisp lines and cold colours, which are almost futuristic in their appearance. As corporate budgets become more generous and spaces are redesigned more frequently, we’re leaving behind the unfinished and imperfect for polished and flawless.

Launched at NeoCon 2015, Cardita was designed particularly for the luxury hospitality market. Designed by Martin Ballendat, it’s inspired by the beautiful leather seats found in luxury vintage cars. A simple yet intelligent frame is complemented by classic upholstery detailing which not only exudes opulence but is also exceptionally comfortable.

Even though Haven isn’t a new addition to the Allermuir portfolio, it is still a firm favourite amongst the hospitality sector due to its versatility. Designed by Mark Gabbertas, Haven soft seating can provide excellent personal privacy – a haven within a busy world, or a generous space for a few to gather. Haven tables can incorporate power outlets – perfect for executive lounges.

The popular Mollie chair has been developed to offer wooden legs and a deeper, fuller back support and a slightly more generous seat width, whilst still retaining the classic silhouette of the original design. A luxurious and satisfying design, Mollie sits well in hotel, bar and restaurant dining areas.
