Adaptable Power and Purposeful Privacy: Inside Tayco’s New Bridgeway™ System

As workplace environments continue to evolve, designers are being asked to deliver greater flexibility, efficiency, and intention within open-plan settings, without sacrificing visual clarity or user comfort. Power access, once treated as a secondary consideration, has become a central component of workplace planning as layouts grow more fluid and less dependent on fixed architectural elements.

To address this shift, Tayco Office Furnishings Inc. (Tayco) has introduced Bridgeway™, a modular power beam system designed to support adaptable layouts, purposeful privacy, and long-term workplace change. The launch also marks the beginning of Tayco’s 50th anniversary year, reinforcing the company’s continued focus on thoughtful, future-ready design.

Unlike traditional power solutions that rely on walls, ceilings, or permanent infrastructure, Bridgeway delivers accessible power directly within the workspace itself. This makes it well suited for open offices, height adjustable benching, collaboration zones, and non-traditional environments such as lounges, reception areas, and waiting spaces where flexibility is essential and fixed power points often fall short.

At its core, Bridgeway is built around modularity. The system supports straight, 90°, and 120° configurations, allowing designers to respond easily to changing floorplans or evolving program needs. As teams grow, contract, or reconfigure, Bridgeway can adapt alongside them, helping reduce disruption and extend the usable life of the space.

Beyond power access, Bridgeway addresses the growing need for visual separation and focused work within open environments. Multiple fencing heights and optional privacy screens allow designers to balance openness with focus and acoustic comfort without fully enclosing the space. The system is available in 21 metal finishes, as well as fabric or laminate infill options, with 21 laminate colours available. This breadth of choice allows Bridgeway to integrate seamlessly into a wide variety of design palettes while maintaining visual consistency across larger floorplates.

Sustainability and longevity were also considered in Bridgeway’s development. The system incorporates a shared structural component from Tayco’s Cosmo platform, supporting material efficiency while maintaining performance and durability. Optional recyclable PET screens from Tayco’s Echo collection further align with responsible material selection and long-term design strategies.

“As we celebrate 50 years of Tayco, Bridgeway represents the way we continue to design—thoughtfully, responsibly, and with the future in mind,” says Bill Melnik, Chief Executive Officer and owner of Tayco. “It reflects our commitment to creating flexible systems that evolve with the workplace, support sustainable design decisions, and deliver lasting value for our partners and their clients.”

From a design and dealer perspective, Bridgeway was developed to work across a wide range of applications without overcomplicating specification or installation.

“Designers and dealers are navigating increasingly complex workplace requirements,” says Emily Boland-Slinn, Director of Marketing and Communications at Tayco. “Bridgeway was created to simplify those conversations by offering a flexible, architectural power solution that integrates cleanly into different environments, while still allowing for customization, privacy, and future reconfiguration.”

From a sales standpoint, Bridgeway reflects the practical realities dealers and clients face in today’s projects.

“Designers are being asked to create spaces that are more agile, more efficient, and more human,” says Josh Bradbard, Vice President of Sales and Marketing at Tayco. “Bridgeway was developed to support that shift, offering adaptable power and visual separation in a clean, architectural form that integrates seamlessly into a variety of workplace settings.”

Bridgeway reflects Tayco’s broader design philosophy of creating systems that evolve alongside the spaces they serve. Rather than prescribing a fixed solution, the system provides flexibility that supports reconfiguration, growth, and change over time.

As organizations continue to rethink how and where work happens, Bridgeway demonstrates how thoughtful design can connect power, privacy, and adaptability while maintaining a refined and cohesive aesthetic.
