ClearSpace Design Launches SmartHub to Solve the Workplace Cable Challenge

The focus of ClearSpace Design is to bridge the gap between workstation design and technology. We believe technology should elevate the design—not clutter it.

In 2024, ClearSpace launched its award-winning SmartDock, an all-in-one integrated docking station. With 14 ports, including dual AC power, SmartDock eliminated the need for three separate components on the worksurface: the monitor arm mount, a convenience power unit, and a universal docking station. This breakthrough allowed ClearSpace to enhance workstation aesthetics without compromising technology, something no other company had achieved.

Although SmartDock was a major success, the biggest challenge arose from the wide range of IT requirements that companies have. Traditional technology vendors offer numerous docking station configurations, each with different power and port options, and these are frequently updated as technology evolves. As a result, the office furniture industry has seen little docking station revenue, and the problem of cable clutter between multiple devices persists.

This challenge inspired SmartHub, the newest addition to the ClearSpace Design SmartSeries ecosystem. SmartHub was created to deliver a clean, clutter-free workspace while allowing users to utilize their own IT-approved technology.

How does it work? ClearSpace mounts the user’s docking station of choice off the desk in a universal thin-client holder, removing visible cables from the worksurface. A USB-C upstream cable runs from the dock through a custom-designed channel hidden beneath the SmartHub’s cover. The result is the same minimalist, cable-free experience as SmartDock, while fully meeting any organization’s IT standards.

Like SmartDock, SmartHub features front and side USB ports and AC outlets to keep essential devices within easy reach, providing convenient access to power without clutter.

With the rise of all-in-one monitors, where ports are built directly into the display, SmartHub also accommodates these configurations. The USB-C upstream cable from the monitor can be routed through SmartHub, ensuring compatibility with any technology setup and seamless integration into the SmartSeries ecosystem.

SmartHub installs in minutes with no tools required. Customers can easily upgrade existing ClearSpace monitor arms at any time, enhancing their workspace without disruption. Additionally, SmartHub offers the same custom finishes as our monitor arms and other SmartSeries solutions, including options for branding and signage such as company logos, desk IDs, and workspace labels printed directly on top.

Now, regardless of any technology, everyone can experience ClearSpace Design! Explore more at clearspacedesign.com.
