Kimball One of First Companies to Register for The WELL Health-Safety Rating
Kimball has a continued commitment to not only being a company that focuses on innovation, knowledge, and adaptability, but also a workplace that is committed to the well-being of our employees. In demonstrating thought leadership and commitment to the health and safety of our employees, we are happy to announce that Kimball is one of the first companies to register our corporate headquarters for The WELL Health-Safety Rating. The WELL Health-Safety Rating is an evidence-based, third-party verified rating for all new and existing building and space types focused on operational policies, maintenance protocols and emergency plans to help organizations prepare their spaces for re-entry in a post COVID-19 environment.
The WELL Health-Safety Rating was created by the International WELL Building Institute (IWBI), the organization that oversees the world’s premier framework for advancing health in buildings and spaces – the WELL Building Standard (WELL). WELL is grounded in the premise that buildings, communities and organizations play a leading role in supporting our health and well-being, as well as our collective ability to prepare for and respond to global health challenges like the one we’re experiencing now. The COVID-19 pandemic has highlighted the critical role that buildings play in supporting people’s health, safety and well- being and with Kimball being one of the first companies to register for this certification, it confirms the importance we have placed on making our headquarters safe, comfortable and productive for our employees.
“We are fully committed to establishing a workplace that will make our Kimball family feel safe returning to work and are creating an environment that fuels employee productivity, engagement and retention,” stated Wendy Murray, VP of Marketing at Kimball.
The WELL Health-Safety Rating includes 21 features across the following core areas, a minimum of 15 which need to be met:
- Cleaning and Sanitization Procedures
- Emergency Preparedness Programs
- Health Service Resources
- Air and Water Quality Management
- Stakeholder Engagement and Communication
“The WELL Health-Safety Rating is a sign of confidence that measures have been enacted to help support the health and safety of people entering spaces of all kinds, and that those measures have been mapped to scientific evidence and verified through a third-party review process,” said Rick Fedrizzi, chairman & CEO of IWBI.

The WELL v2 pilot is the latest version of its popular WELL Building Standard (WELL), and the WELL Community Standard pilot is a district scale rating system that sets a new global benchmark for healthy communities. WELL is focused exclusively on the ways that buildings and communities, and everything in them, can improve our comfort, drive better choices, and generally enhance, not compromise, our health and wellness. IWBI mobilizes the wellness community through management of the WELL AP credential, the pursuit of applicable research, the development of educational resources, and advocacy for policies that promote health and wellness for everyone, everywhere.
