Hirsh Industries Launches Flexible Solutions for the Modern Workspace
Developing products that meet the rapidly changing needs of the office and educational design community can be a tall order. Functionality is often sacrificed for the latest and greatest trend, and the client is left with a beautiful but not completely practical space. But metal case goods leader, Hirsh Industries is setting out to solve a few of these challenges and provide solutions that not only look modern but also offer the highest level of functionality at a great value.
Approaching these challenges from a holistic view, Hirsh began by implementing a robust, research-based product development process that allowed them to dive deep into the needs of the design communities. The result is a new variety of offerings that include desking solutions, bookcases and shelving that will uniquely meet the needs of both office and educational designers alike.
Flexibility is the Name of the Game
In both educational and office design, flexibility is critical. Hirsh wanted to provide
pieces that evolve with the needs of the space and allow for maximum adaptability right from the start. Also, with a new focus on serving the educational market, they took a hard look at the logistics of the modern classroom to create a line that speaks to the specific needs of this vertical.
“Our new educational offerings are specifically designed to meet the needs of the modern, evolving classroom. We know that qualities like mobility are of the highest importance. These pieces need to work flexibly with the flow of the classroom.” – Dave Jensen, Hirsh Industries, Vice President Of Sales.
The Makerspace Movement
Hirsh’s mobile storage and desking products are well-suited for “makerspaces” that are increasing in popularity in the education market. Hirsh’s new mobile bin units, launching in 2019, provide flexible, mobile storage for makerspaces and classrooms. The units include pull-out bins that can store project supplies and be positioned next to the work area.
Mobile Desking
To better serve the education market, Hirsh is extending their popular pedestal desk line to include a teacher’s desk that features a laminate T-mold work surface. This new desk launches in January in both mobile and stationary options.
Open Desking
Rearranging both educational and office workspaces on the fly is easy with the modular component-based design of Hirsh’s open desking system. The line includes a variety of components that combine to create an attractive, functional workspace with flexible metal storage options that can be tailored to suit the needs of a dynamic workspace.
The “makerspace” trend in educational design is also well-suited to Hirsh’s Open Desking System. Instructors and students alike can easily rearrange their workspace to support both independent tasks as well as collaborative time.
Endless Storage
Hirsh’s steel storage products are ideal for the education market. Book carts and utility carts offer mobile storage while their extensive line of vertical files, lateral files, pedestal files, bookcases, shelving and storage cabinets provides storage anywhere it’s needed—from the classroom and front office to the storeroom and janitor’s closet.
Supporting Independent Dealers
In addition to these innovative, new product offerings, Hirsh has also developed a system to streamline the buying process with new tools geared toward helping independent dealers. These new tools include standardized, pre-paid freight pricing
nationwide, lower minimums for pre-paid freight, and an increased customer service process that provides hands-on assistance from start to finish.
All products in Hirsh’s dealer program are part of their Quick-Ship Program, meaning those items are stocked and ready to ship within five business days of an order. The majority of Hirsh’s products are also readily available through their national wholesale partner, S.P. Richards.
“We created a system that makes it easier for independent dealers to work with us directly.” – Brandon Wetterberg, Hirsh Industries, Director Of Product Management.
They are poised to expand these tools in the near future based on feedback from independent dealers as well as insights from across their customer base. As they have done for nearly a century, Hirsh will continue to provide comprehensive client-focused
solutions on both the logistics and sales side of their business.
A deep commitment to innovation, quality manufacturing and exceptional customer service has set them apart from the status quo and opened the door to limitless office and educational design possibilities, ensuring that no matter where trends move, Hirsh Industries will be there to provide a solution.
